My husband and I have four young kids who enjoy helping out in the garden on a daily basis. Once they get a taste of growing their own food, they are more likely to try new foods in their diet and start eating healthier.

We started growing our own food in 2015 and it has been an adventure! We started our garden to help manage my husband’s anxiety and depression by eating healthy. But we discovered that it has a lot of other benefits! Simply getting outside in fresh air and getting your hands into the dirt can help you feel better! It also saves us a lot of money. If you don’t live close to a grocery store, a garden is a great way to have healthy produce on hand. Some other benefits to growing your own food are:

  • Cutting down on your grocery budget.
  • Making your yard inviting – you can teach others how to grow!
  • Spending more time with family.
  • Allowing you to try new fruits and vegetables.
  • Getting you and your family outside and moving (Kids need 60 minutes of physical activity daily, and adults need 30.)

Growing food has changed our lives, and we are passionate about helping others to do the same!
