Avocado Green Pea Dip

  • 1 large ripe avocado
  • 1 cup frozen petite green peas, thawed
  • 1/2 cup raw walnuts or pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 bunch fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed and minced
  • 2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup water
  • Zest and juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil


 1. Add all ingredients except water and olive oil to a food processor. 

2. Pulse 10 times to get ingredients moving. 

3. Add olive oil and pulse 5 more times. 

4. Then begin adding 1/4 cup water, while fully processing. Stop processing once combined and mostly smooth, about 15 seconds. Transfer dip to a serving bowl and serve with raw vegetables, pita, crackers or chips. 


Food processor or blender (or alternatively, a mixing bowl with a potato masher or pastry blender,) measuring cups and spoons, knife, cutting board.


If you like the thickness, you can leave it, or add more water. If you use a mixing bowl instead blender/processor, mash until desired consistency.
