Shape Your Future is a statewide campaign sponsored by the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) and the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH), with the goals of encouraging Oklahomans to eat better, move more, and be tobacco-free.
This year Shape Your Future encourages Oklahoma adults to meet their New Year’s goals for getting physical activity every day. Just 30 minutes a day for adults and 60 minutes a day for kids, helps families helps reduce the risk of high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.
Power up your New Year by filling half your plate with fruits and veggies this year and choose fresh water over sugary beverages.
“Small changes add up,” said Tracey Strader, executive director of TSET. “Put on some music and dance with the kids, and try adding fruits and veggies to every meal for a weekend let each family member choose a favorite vegetable. Make one healthy choice at a time this New Year. And before you know it, your entire family will be helping to set healthy new goals.”
