My name is Dana Piercy. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma and have been teaching first and second grade for 20 years. I have two children and my youngest is into Snapchat. However, lately I don’t want to have my picture taken because of the way I look. I’m at the heaviest weight I’ve ever been, including when I was pregnant with my kids. I want to take a picture with my children and not be disappointed in the way I look. Ultimately, this has become the biggest motivation for me to lose weight and become healthier.
My doctor said I was in a prediabetic stage, so I decided it was time for a lifestyle change. I started making better food choices by prepping my lunches to ensure I was eating healthier, but I couldn’t find healthy meals I enjoyed. This was when I started looking for recipes online.
Shape Your Future caught my attention because it’s based in Oklahoma for Oklahomans. I tried the recipes and have been using them ever since. Recipes like the Frozen Blueberry Bites are flavorful and easy to make, and the Chicken Fajita Packet is my favorite. (I have made it at least three times.)
The toughest part of this journey is staying consistent. When I have a terrible day at work, I’ll eat unhealthy food for comfort. It’s really easy and cheap to get fast food, but I’ve realized that eating healthy is still important during tough times. Shape Your Future has given me the tools to succeed. I get excited to eat Shape Your Future recipes because I know they are quick and taste great.
