Grill Vegetables — And Fruit
There are so many benefits to grilling vegetables. High in fiber, vitamins and minerals, veggies are the perfect foundation for a healthy lifestyle — and grilled, they have great taste and texture!
Here are a few different ways to grill your favorite produce.
Pro tip: Don’t have a grill? No problem! You can get the same delicious results using a grill pan on your stovetop.
Straight on the Grill
FOOD | PREP | HEAT | TIME |
---|---|---|---|
Cut in half or quarters | Medium High | 4-5 minutes on each side | |
Slice into 1/4-inch-thick rounds | Medium High | 2-3 minutes on each side | |
Trim off bottom ends | Medium High | 6-10 minutes | |
Cut into 1-inch-thick rings | Medium | 2-3 minutes on each side | |
Cut into slices, leave the rind on | High Heat | 2-3 minutes on each side |
Flavor tip: For these veggies, toss with olive oil and salt and pepper. This will help prevent them from sticking to the grill grates while also adding flavor.
Kabobs
Smaller veggies are best grilled using skewers.
FOOD | PREP | HEAT | TIME |

Grouping veggies on kabobs is a great way to maximize flavor. Pro tip: For more deliciousness, add onions and bell peppers to your kabobs. Of course, kabobs don’t have to be 100% veggies. Here’s a great, protein-packed chicken kabob recipe.
Foil Packs
The perfect way to get creative with your veggies? Foil packs! They’re great for capturing — and combining — wonderful flavors.
FOOD | PREP | HEAT | TIME |
---|---|---|---|
Leave Whole | Indirect Heat | 15-25 minutes | |
Trim off the ends | Medium High | 15 minutes | |

Veggie Foil Pack Basics – Lay out one piece of foil about 12” x 24” and put the veggies in the middle. Sprinkle the seasonings (salt, pepper or your personal favorite) over the veggies, then drizzle with olive oil.
Pro tip: Skip the olive oil and seasonings and use light Italian dressing instead.
Fold the ends of the foil in towards each other to form a packet. Place foil packet on grill and cook for 5-7 minutes, then rotate and cook for another 5-7 minutes.
With flavor packs, the possibilities are endless. Mix, match and experiment to your taste buds’ content!
